astro vision

she stood in awe
of lights
and absence
'neath
nimble staircases
that traveled
infinite distances
as people
dragged their feet
in unison
left
right.

i was witnessing
redemption
and slaughter
side by side
hand in hand
marching to the beat
of a hollow drum
sticks and stones
loud music in my ear

she moved
slyly, feathery, waifily
i took notice of her warmth
dissolving
diluting the
grains of selfdom
as they marched on
in unison
up the mechanical stairs
and back.
